BEHIND THE FLAVOR
Austin's best, ready to welcome you

Our story
TrapHouse ATX is a Black and Brown owned restaurant built on culture, family, and a deep love for good food.
Founded by Alvin and Dante, TrapHouse ATX is more than a business. It is the result of two people raised in kitchens where food meant love, loud conversations, and always cooking way more than needed. Alvin, who is Guatemalan, is the brains of the operation. He handles all the behind the scenes details that keep the lights on and the doors open. Dante, a culinary graduate, had a dream and took it seriously. He turned a lifelong passion for cooking into a mission to feed Austin with food that actually has soul.
We both come from cooking families where recipes were rarely written down and everything was made by feel. Food was how our families showed love, solved problems, and brought people together. TrapHouse ATX was created to honor that history while sharing flavors inspired by the Caribbean, the African diaspora, and our Southern roots.

Our Meet Founder & Chef Dante Foster

From his diverse upbringing to training at Le Cordon Bleu, he’s mastered culinary arts, event management, and food service. Now, as the founder of Trap House Caribbean & Seafood, Chef Dante is blending local ingredients with bold, exotic spices to create unforgettable dishes.

Fresh Flavors, Local Ingredients
Our mission is simple. Serve bold, comforting, culture driven food and create a space where everyone feels welcome, respected, and comfortable being themselves. Every dish reflects our journey, our families, and our desire to show Austin who we are and where we come from.
This is TrapHouse ATX. Built from the ground up, powered by culture, and served with soul.
Don’t trust a skinny chef.
